Welcome to The Arts Society Mid Kent
The Arts Society Mid Kent (Registered Charity no1086672) was founded in 1979. We currently have 240 members and currently there is no waiting list for membership.
Our objective is to advance public education, particularly by promoting the study and appreciation of the decorative and fine arts. We hold monthly lectures in Sutton Valence, a village very close to Maidstone, the County Town of Kent. Guests are welcome, though we ask you to book in advance.
Additionally, through our volunteer groups, we help preserve the nation’s artistic heritage by church recording, book cleaning, and the conservation of arms and armour. We also promote activities which encourage the young to develop an interest in the Arts, and periodically make an award of a grant to one or more talented young local artists to help towards the cost of their college studies. Recently, we created our first church trail for children and are at the early stages of a second trail.
In 2017 we recently saw the completion of conservation work we funded at Rochester to the Cathedral Quire screen and also the completion of a Heritage Trail at All Saints’ Church Maidstone. Please click on the links to see further details of each.
We also organise a varied programme of visits both here in the UK and abroad.
You will find more detailed information on these activities on the following pages of our website. Generally, throughout the site, click on an image to see larger versions of that image.
Meetings are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month, except July and August, at 10.45am with coffee available from 10.15am. The venue is:

Free parking is available on site.
